Setting Passwords through Namesake Server

HPC cluster users may set/reset their password using NameSake.

1. To access NameSake, please install a VPN client and connect to BC’s VPN first: 

https://www.bc.edu/content/bc-web/restricted/its/vpn

2. Log into the following Namesake server with your BC username and Agora password:

https://namesake.bc.edu/namesake/login

3. To set/reset the password for the Andromeda HPC Cluster enter andromeda.bc.edu in the “Servers” field:

4. After enter your new password into both password fields, click “Submit” and wait for the “success” screen.

*Please note, the following password policy has been developed for the cluster, but is not yet (August, 2024) enforced on the cluster.

• Max lifetime (days): 90
• Min lifetime (hours): 24
• Stored password history length : 100
• Min character classes (Aa2&): 4
• Min password length: 12
• Max login failures before lockout: 5
• Failure reset interval (seconds): 15
• Lockout duration (seconds): 30
• Max character repeat (aaa): 3
• Max character sequence (abc): 3
• User name in password check: True
• Grace login limit after password expiration: 0
